Lifeguards at the Pav YMCA ensure the safety of pool patrons and the cleanliness of the pool area. Part-time, $8.25-$8.75/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be a proficient swimmer
• Must successfully complete a skill assessment consisting of a 200-yard swim (100 freestyle and 100 breast-stroke), a timed swim with a 10 lb. weight, and a CPR scenario
• YMCA experience (preferred)

CERTIFICATIONS:
• CPR, First Aid, AED (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
• New Employee Orientation (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
• Department Specific Redwoods Trainings (must obtain within 90 days of employment)
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid certification
• American Red Cross O2 Administration Certification (preferred)

*It is the responsibility of the employee to obtain and maintain all certifications required to perform this position, in accordance with Pav YMCA guidelines.

• Create and ensure safe and welcoming environment
• Ability to enforce policies, problem solve and handle emergency situations
• Ability to assist and communicate with all populations of people regardless of race, age, and special needs

• Attend training when appropriate
• Support YMCA special events, signature events, and campaigns
• Perform all tasks to the best of your ability and with a positive attitude
• Actively scanning both the surface and bottom of the pool
• Remaining properly positioned to see all areas of the pool, hot tub, sauna, and pool deck
• Keeping the pool deck clear of clutter
• Performing and recording swim tests
• Other duties assigned by the Aquatics Coordinator, Aquatics Director, Senior Program Director and/or Executive Director
